67. Link a VPlan to a Requirements Management Tool (RMT)

To link a VPlan to an RMT:

  1. Integrate Foretify Manager with an RMT, as described in Integrate a Requirements Management Tool in the Foretify Manager Installation guide.
  2. Configure the VPlan's requirement project ID).

To link a VPlan with Jama Connect or DOORS, you need to configure the VPlan's Linked Requirement Project to match Jama's Project ID or DOORS' Project Name (MagicDraw does not require this step.)

In addition, you need to add requirement IDs to the appropriate VPlan sections.

67.0.1.1 Set the VPlan's linked requirements project

  1. Open the VPlan editor.

  2. Next to the VPlan's root node, click on the More Details icon.

  3. Enter the project ID or name in Linked Requirement Project.

  4. Click Save.

  1. In the VPlan editor, click the More Details icon next to the VPlan section.

  2. In the Section Details dialog, enter the Requirement ID.

67.0.2 Browse requirements from the VPlan

When synced with DOORS and Jama, a new browser tab opens with a page displaying the requirement details.

When synced with MagicDraw, the Containment Tree focuses on the linked requirement.

  1. Open MagicDraw and load the requirements. (Applies only for MagicDraw.)

  2. In the VPlan, click the Focus on Linked Requirement (link) icon next to the VPlan section name.

Note

Due to browser security restrictions, this feature will only work when Foretify Manager is secured (HTTPS).

To test this on Google Chrome when running un-secured, enable the "Insecure origins treated as secure" Google Chrome flag (not recommended in production environments!)

67.0.3 Browse the VPlan from the RMT

For Jama Connect and DOORS, click on the URL in the requirement section.

67.0.4 Update the RMT with coverage grades

To update the RMT with the coverage grades and URLs of all VPlan sections that have a Requirement ID attribute:

Click on the Sync icon to the right of the VPlan name.

67.0.5 Generate a new VPlan section from the RMT

When a new requirement is added, you can create a new section in the VPlan by either of the following methods:

  • Polling the RMT (where possible).
  • Manually creating a custom action in the RMT’s GUI.
